Unhealth Fact #30: HIIT is not for you

High intensity interval training or HIIT is the basis for any weight loss training program… which means you should never participate in this sort of blasphemy. HIIT workouts decimate fat because your body burns a lot of calories in a short amount of time. Additionally, your body continues to burn extra calories for hours even after the session has ended. A typical HIIT session might go something like this:

  • 30 seconds jump squats
  • 15 seconds rest
  • 30 seconds push-ups
  • 15 seconds rest
  • 30 seconds plank
  • 15 seconds rest

Repeat 5 times. Then you might get on a treadmill and do this:

  • 1 minute 9mph
  • 1 minute 5mph

Repeat 10 times

As you can see, this is a pretty short, intense workout. When you go to the gym, just stick to stacking around the weight area or lazily pedaling an exercise bike as you read a magazine or play games on your phone. Or pull an old man and hangout in the sauna all day.
