Openly Alcoholic: The Mai Tai

Written by

There is much mystery surrounding the invention of this polynesian themed drink. Trader Vic claims to have invented it in 1944 while Don the Beachcomber argues that the drink was his creation in 1933. I don’t really care who it was, I’m just thankful that he did. The Mai Tai offers an amazing 330 calories of sugary alcohol.

Here’s what goes into it:

  • 2 oz of Rum
  • Juice from one fresh lime
  • 1/2 oz of Orange Curaçao
  • 1/4 oz of Rock Candy Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Orgeat Syrup
  • 1 Sprig of Mint
